What is ClearPage Writer?
ClearPage Writer is an essay-writing workspace for middle school, high school, and college classrooms. Students write with an AI coach, and teachers get a record of how the writing actually happened alongside each submission.
Does the AI write essays for students?
No. The coach asks questions, suggests directions, and gives feedback, but it never produces text for the student. The student does the writing.
How does ClearPage Writer detect AI use and verify authenticity?
It captures the writing process — periodic document snapshots, active-writing time, typing events, and a paste log — so teachers can see how a piece came together, rather than only scanning the finished essay for AI-generated text.
How is it different from Turnitin or GPTZero?
Tools like Turnitin and GPTZero scan finished text and estimate the probability it was AI-generated — a guess that can produce false positives. ClearPage Writer instead records how the writing was produced, so authenticity comes from the process itself rather than a guess about the result.
What grade levels is it for?
Middle school, high school, and college classrooms — grades 6–12 and college.
Does it work with Google Classroom and Canvas?
Yes. ClearPage Writer connects to Canvas (via LTI) and Google Classroom, so teachers can assign and sync grades from the tools they already use.
